Statements from colleagues: Alan Hobson - Unsung Hero Award

“Alan Hobson is the person you call when you’re in trouble. You never call him to ask how his day is or to tell him something nice. You always call Alan when you have a leak, when something is broken, when you are in trouble. Alan will always get there as fast as he can and with skill and determination he will get you out of a Jam. It’s often messy, awkward or physically hard work that needs to be done and he will do everything he can to help with a smile on his face and kindness in his heart. I remember personally working in a situation where after someone else phoned in sick I would be on my own all day. He popped in unprompted with a pack of sausage rolls and a can of coke and wouldn’t take any money for it. Alan is the definition of an unsung hero in that none of our customers see him, he never gets a review on TripAdvisor and you will not see his picture on the website but Alan is the one who is on call 24/7 to make sure that no matter what happens, no matter what it takes, the doors stay opened and that customers can enjoy themselves, he is the silent, secret backbone of the pudding shop  and we are very lucky to have him.”

  - Stephen Craig, General Manager, The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop

“Alan is one of a kind and always on the end of the phone should a problem arise at work! Many a time I ring him and ask him to get in a skip or to unblock something and he always arrives with a smile on his face! When Alan retires, in the coming year, he will be a huge loss across the company; he is a massive asset who works tirelessly in the background.”

  - Nicola Wood, Finance & Office Manager

“Alan is one of them people that will do absolutely anything asked of him and will never give up until the job is completed to a high standard. Everyone in this company loves him and appreciates everything that he does”

   - Jack Beagrie, Multi-site Manager
